Author: Hannah Johns | July 11, 2023

The 2nd Annual Margaritaville Underground Invitational presented by DUPR is set to take place July 17 as an exclusive VIP experience that showcases twelve of the top pro athletes in pickleball.

The 2021 Margaritaville Underground Invitational will be held at a private indoor facility in Fort Myers, FL where a limited number of fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with their favorite pros, as well as enjoy some Margaritaville-style hospitality courtside. This event runs from 11:00am to 4:00pm (EST) on Saturday, July 17th and will sell out!

The event will kick off with a Pro-Am match-up presented by Latitude Margaritaville on the evening of Friday, July 16, which will be followed up by a full day of pickleball action on Saturday. All players will receive generous appearance fees, as well as have the opportunity to compete for the $5000 payout awarded to the winners of this exciting and unique invitational! The event will be live streamed to the PPA Tour’s Facebook and YouTube pages, so if you can’t make it in person, be sure to tune in!

Players in attendance are as follows:

Ben Johns, Simone Jardim, Matt Wright, Lucy Kovalova, Collin Johns, Callie Smith, Dekel Bar, Leigh Waters, Anna Leigh Waters, Jessie Irvine, Rob Nunnery, and Ryan Sherry.

These twelve players will be split into two teams of six players each, who will then compete against each other in an all-new format that will include two matches of men’s doubles, two matches of women’s doubles, and two matches of mixed doubles.

Ryan Sherry, who is hosting the Margaritaville Underground Invitational along with the PPA said, “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Margaritaville for the second year in a row and make this event happen at my private training facility here in southwest Florida. Last year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were unable to offer tickets, but went ahead with the event in order to support players and pickleball fans across the U.S. This year, we are pleased to offer both general admission and VIP tickets to this one-of-a-kind event.”
