=== MEN’S SINGLES ===

#3 TYSON McGUFFIN: 

  • His six career gold medals is third all-time behind Johns and Staksrud.
  • His last title was nearly a year ago, at the Tournament of Champions, coincidentally against Garnett.
  • Beat #1 seed Federico Staksrud in three games in the semis.

#2 CONNOR GARNETT:

  • Won the Los Angeles Open in April, vs Federico Staksrud.
  • #3 ranked player on Tour. 

Bronze: 

#1 Federico Staksrud:

  • Has earned a medal in every tournament this year. (5 gold, 7 silver, and one bronze)
  • His nine career men’s singles titles are second only to Ben Johns.
  • His nine career titles have come in finals against nine different players.

#9 Christopher Haworth:

  • Ranked #10, but was not in the Top 20 at the start of the year.
  • Earned his first career title by beating Staksrud in the Orange County Cup in June, his only podium finish this year.

#3 BROOKE BUCKNER: 

  • Beat top-seed Catherine Parenteau in the quarterfinals.
  • Won the Los Angeles Open in April, her first PPA title.
  • Was ranked 11th to start the year, now #6.

#31 KATE FAHEY:

  • Beat second-seed Lea Jansen in three games to start the tourney.
  • Beat four straight higher seeds to reach the final.
  • Earning her first career PPA medal today.

Bronze: 

#5 Kaitlyn Christian:

  • Has one silver and three bronzes this year.

#30 Mari Humberg:

  • Trying for her first PPA Singles medal.
  • She won a doubles bronze at Mesa in February.

=== MIXED DOUBLES ===

#1 ANNA LEIGH WATERS and BEN JOHNS

  • Have 35 titles together. (Waters, 37 overall; Johns, 50 overall)
  • They have eight titles this year, including the last four tournaments.
  • Their win here last year started streak of winning eight straight PPA tournaments.

#2 JORJA JOHNSON and JW JOHNSON

  • Won their only title together in Newport Beach, April 2023.
  • Have lost four straight title matches to Waters/Johns, most recently at the Texas Open in June.
  • Beat Waters/Johns in the quarterfinals of the Arizona Grand Slam in February 2023.

Bronze: 

#4 Catherine Parenteau/Federico Staksrud:

  • Both players have one mixed doubles medal this year, both silvers, but not with each other.

#25 Parris Todd/Hunter Johnson:

  • Both players are trying to earn their first PPA Mixed Doubles medal.
  • Todd has three women’s doubles bronze medals this year, with Hurrican Tyra Black.
  • Johnson has two PPA Singles medals from 2022, a silver and a bronze.

#1 DYLAN FRAZIER and JW JOHNSON

  • Their ten men’s doubles titles together are second only to the Johns brothers.
  • Their five titles together this year are tied with the Johns brothers for the most on tour.
  •  Their overall match record is ​135-24 coming into this final.

#4 FEDERICO STAKSRUD and GABE TARDIO

  • Beat second-seed Johns brothers in the semis.
  • Staksrud has one gold, two silvers and two bronze this year.
  • Tardio has two silvers this year, both with Andrei Daescu, both losses to Frazier and Johnson.

Bronze:   

#6 Christian Alshon/Hayden Patriquin:

  • First tournament together.
  • Patriquin going for his third straight podium finish.
  • Alshon has a gold (with Wilson) and a silver (with Navratil) this year.

#2 Ben Johns/Collin Johns: 

  • They have 5 titles together this year, and 31 together overall.
  • Are they vulnerable? Is “the field” catching up? They did not reach a final in their last five tournaments together (Red Rock, Atlanta, Dallas, Orange County, Kansas City), and twice earlier this year (Mesa, Austin). 

=== WOMEN’S DOUBLES ===

#1 ANNA LEIGH WATERS and CATHERINE PARENTEAU

  • Have 19 titles together, including eight this year. 
  • Their overall match record is 97-1 coming into this final.
  • Their win here last year started a streak of winning eight straight PPA tournaments.

#5 JADE KAWAMOTO and LACY SCHNEEMANN:

  • Beat second-seed Dizon/Wright in the semis.
  • Schneemann has two silver medals this year, Kawamoto one.
  • Have a silver and a bronze together from last year.

Bronze:     

#10 Mari Humberg/Jorja Johnson:

  • Won a bronze medal together in Mesa in February.
  • Beat #3 seed Callie Smith and Allyce Jones in the quarterfinals.

#2 Meghan Dizon/Etta Wright:

  • Have two silvers together this year, both in Arizona, both against Parenteau/Waters.
  • Have four bronze medals together this year.
  • Won the Red Rock Open in April 2023.
