The Professional Pickleball Association Announces its Final Major of the Year Will Now be Held November 10th – 14th, 2021.

Salt Lake City, Utah. – May 20, 2021 – Due to the ripple-down rescheduling caused by Covid-19 as companies attempt to reinsert their long-awaited events into the 2021 calendar, the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) has made the decision to alter the dates of its final tournament in 2021. The PPA does so in order to accommodate changes made in USA Pickleball’s event schedule, after it was announced that the professional tennis tournament BNP Paribas Open would be held October 15th–24th at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. As these dates coincide with those of the 2021 Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships set to be played at the same venue, the PPA opted to transfer its dates in December over to USA Pickleball. Therefore, the 2021 Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships will now be held on December 6th–14th, 2021 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

The PPA Masters event, originally scheduled for December 9th–12th, 2021 in Palm Springs, CA, will move to USA Pickleball’s vacated November dates. The PPA Masters will now be played November 10th–14th, 2021, which ensures no overlapping between the two tournaments, allows registered players to compete in both events, and helps venues best accommodate their upcoming lineups of events throughout the fall season.

“The Professional Pickleball Association seeks to support not only players, fans, and staff, but also the sport of pickleball as a whole,” said Connor Pardoe, commissioner of the PPA. “Working in conjunction with USA Pickleball to reschedule these two tournaments will allow all those involved to enjoy world-class events at dates that are suitable to both parties. We continue to prioritize player and fan experience and look forward to watching both tournaments take place.”

Responding to the transfer of dates, Stu Upson, CEO of USA Pickleball, stated that, “2021 has brought incredible excitement for the sport of pickleball, and we couldn’t be more excited as an organization to welcome back thousands of players, partners, and vendors to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in December. We realize that a date change of this nature is challenging, but our team has worked hard to ensure our National Championships are not only able to be played but will once again be one of the best pickleball tournaments of the year.”

Although the venue for the PPA Masters has yet to be announced, more information on this, as well as the event itself, will be forthcoming in the near future. The PPA looks forward to welcoming players, fans, and staff to the tournament in November to close out what has been a phenomenal season of pickleball in 2021!
