Meet Ben Newell

Ben Newell grew up in Topeka, Kansas. Surprisingly, Newell first started playing pickleball at Chicken N Pickle! Newell tells the story as follows: “ I used to drive by it everyday on my way to work. Saw it, and knew I could be pretty good at it. Then, Yana came up to me one day after a league game and asked “Do you want to go pro with me?”. and Boom! here we are :)”’ Ben comes from a long tennis background and played college tennis alongside his twin brother. Now we can see Newell and Yana Grechkina are one of the many happy pickleball couples that you can see playing on the court. Newell is also a “self-proclaimed nerd,” who plays and programs guitars. 

Since turning pro Newell has beaten 11 of the top 20 Men’s Doubles players in a competitive environment. He has competed in 3 MLPs, and achieved a top 20 ranking in Men’s Doubles. Newell is now sponsored by CRBN, Picklepodz, and the place that inspired him to start playing pickleball, Chicken N Pickle.
