  • Marla Omar says:

Does PPA tournaments require proof of COVID vaccination?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Marla! At this time the Carvana PPA Tour does not require proof of COVID vaccination to play in our amateur tournaments or watch professional matches. 😁

  • Susan says:

Hi is there anyone I can speak to about donations to a 501c3 non-profit?

  • Dean James says:

Am I reading this correctly….the San Diego Open is being played in OC’s, Newport Beach? Why not in San Diego? Then the Orange County Cup in San Clemente? Please clarify. Thanks.

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Dean! Yes, you are reading this correctly. The San Diego Open was originally going to be played at the HUB Pickleball Club in Spring Valley, CA, but is now relocated to the Tennis and Pickleball Club at Newport Beach. We are currently in the process of rebranding this tournament as a Newport Beach tournament rather than a San Diego tournament for clarity. Stay tuned! 😁

  • Alix says:

I see the updated schedule doesn’t show the pros playing singles on Thursday. Is this correct, there will be no pro singles on Thursday?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Alix! Yes, that is correct. 👍🏼 There will be no pro singles on Thursday as this is now a doubles only tournament.

  • Amy Burford says:

Hello. I love going to and watching Pro Pickleball tournaments. It looks like the Newport Beach tourney overlaps with the US Open Pickleball tourney. Shouldn’t the PPA work around national tournaments?
    Thank you

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Amy! Yes, the US Open is April 15th-22nd this year and the Newport Beach Shootout is April 21st-23rd. 😥 We have 25 tour stops in 2023 so it’s difficult to not have at least one tournament that overlaps with another national tournament.

  • Marie says:

With a grounds pass, do you have the possibility of getting a seat on championship court or have standing room to watch matches on championship court? Or are you simply not allowed at championship court with a grounds pass? Trying to decipher the explanation 🙂 Thanks!

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Marie! That is a great question. I just spoke with our ticketing team and it sounds like a Grounds Pass ticket gives you access to every match not played on Championship Court, but no access to Championship Court. I’ll talk with our team and see how we can update our ticketing descriptions so that the distinction between them is more clear. 😁

  • Tonya says:

How can I volunteer for this pickleball tournament?? Thanks

  • Conor says:

I’ve never been to a PPA event but am excited to watch the pros. Are there usually any courts available for pickup games for spectators who get the itch to play some games?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hey, Conor! We’re excited to have you at the event. 😁 There usually aren’t open courts during the tournament since courts are assigned to new matches almost as soon as scores from the previous match are reported to Tournament Operations. However, once the amateur tournament is over, there may be some courts that open up until the facility closes each evening.

  • Crystal says:

I’ve never been to a PPA event. Are we allowed to bring our own food in?
When will we know which pros will be at this event?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Crystal! We hope your first PPA event is an amazing experience. 😁 Our Tournament Operations team says that outside food is not allowed at this event. As for pros playing, you can see who is registered for this event by creating a free account with pickleballtournaments.com, going to https://www.pickleballtournaments.com/tournamentinfo.pl?tid=7469, clicking on the “Events/Brackets” tab, then clicking on the event you’re wanting to see the registered players for.

If you don’t want to create an account with pickleballtournaments.com, I am happy to check for you. Just let me know which pros you are hoping to see. 😁

  • Vada says:

Hello ! I would like to register for the tournament but I do not have a dupr score. Am I able to acquire one while I’m there or is that something I need prior to the event

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Vada! For your first tournament, having a DUPR rating is not required; players can self-rate during the registration process through pickleballtournaments.com. Be sure to claim or sign up for your free DUPR account at mydupr.com. After your first PPA Tour event, you will have an established DUPR rating within a few days. Enjoy the Newport Beach Doubles Shootout! 🙌🏼

  • Mary Layne Holloway says:

    Hello,
We are planning to come to the Newport Beach shootout in Newport Beach and was wondering if the pro Anna Leigh waters will be at the tournament?
Thank you so much! I look forward to watching!

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Mary! Unfortunately, Anna Leigh Waters will not be playing in the Newport Beach Doubles Shootout this year. 😥

      • Jacko Kell says:

Do you mean Anna Waters or Anna Leigh Waters is not going to be there? Thanks!

        • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Jacko! Neither Anna Waters nor Anna Leigh Waters are registered to play in the OGIO Newport Beach Shootout this weekend.

          • Donna says:

Hi, can you please tell me the professional pickleball players who are registered to play in this tournament?

          • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Donna! If you go to https://www.pickleballtournaments.com/tournamentinfo.pl?tid=7469 and click on “Event Player List,” you will be able to see all of the players that are registered to play in any event you are interested in. However, you will need to create a free account with pickleballtournament.com to access this information. 😁

Are there any specific players that you are interested in seeing? I’m happy to check for you to see if they are registered to play.

          • Jacko Kell says:

Where can I get a refund for the tickets I bought? I bought them because your website shows photos of Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns and even states they are contracted to play for you and these two players are why I bought tickets. Why would you show photos of them and brag they are contracted to you and then only after I have spent money on tickets discover they aren’t actually appearing.

          • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Jacko! I see how having pictures of Anna Leigh Waters on our tournament landing page would lead you to believe that she is playing in this tournament. She is a contracted player with the Carvana PPA Tour, but usually doesn’t make appearances at every single tournament. I’ll let our Marketing Team know that we need to make sure we aren’t marketing her in tournaments that she won’t be playing in. However, Ben Johns is registered to play in this tournament. 🎉

As for the refund, can you reach out to Tanner Thygerson on our Ticketing Team at [email protected]? He can make sure you get taken care of. 😁

      • Mary Layne Holloway says:

Awe bummer! Hopefully I will find her at a different tournament.
        Thank you so much!

        • Maxwell Hill says:

You’re welcome, Mary, and I’m sorry that you won’t have a chance to see her play this time. 😥

  • Stephanie Inyama says:

    Are tickets refundable?

  • robert kim says:

I may be interested in VIP pass, where can I get a code for discount

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Robert! Did you see any promotions on advertisements that we are running for this event? We typically don’t run promotions for every tournament.

  • Toni Bushong says:

When will the players be given schedule information? I’m playing on Friday and have no idea what time anything is happening.
    Thanks for any info!

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Toni! You should be receiving schedule information today or tomorrow since registration just closed yesterday. However, feel free to reach out to [email protected] and they will be happy to answer any questions that you have regarding your event’s start time. 😁

  • Kristine Furman says:

For the championship games played on Sunday April 23rd what time do the gAmes start and approximately what time do they end?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Kristine! The Championship Matches will start this Sunday at 10:00am PT and will end around 4:00pm PT. 😁

    • Mary Layne says:

      Hello,
We bought ground tickets for Sunday to San Diego open, anyway we can upgrade to be able to see the Newport beach championship games on Sunday?
      Thank you!

      • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Mary! Yes, you can upgrade your ticket to Courtside or VIP seating at the door of the venue on Championship Sunday. 😁 Make sure to come early so you can get a good seat! 🙌🏼

  • MONICA SYLVESTER says:

I need a refund since the venue has changed. How do I go about this? TIXR told me they are waiting on approval??? The only reason we purchased was because it was advertised as being in San Diego, and we are not going to Newport. CAn you please help?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Monica! Can you e-mail Tanner Thygerson on our Ticketing Team at [email protected]? He’ll make sure you get taken care of. 😁 And yes, originally this tournament was going to be played at the HUB in San Diego, but the tournament had to be rescheduled to Newport Beach. Sorry for the inconvenience; we hope you can make it to a tournament in the future. 🤞🏼

  • Warren Neville says:

I have 6 Sunday courtside tickets for the PPA Newport Beach Shootout. I understand there will be men’s & women’s doubles gold medal and bronze medal matches on Sunday. What time does the first gold medal match start?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Warren! We’re excited to have you at the Newport Beach Doubles Shootout this weekend. 🙌🏼 Yes, both the Men’s Doubles Final and Women’s Doubles Final will be played on Sunday along with the Men’s Doubles Bronze Medal Match and the Women’s Doubles Bronze Medal Match. The first match will start at 10:00am PT, but you will want to arrive early to make sure you get a good seat since Courtside seating is organized on a first come first serve basis. 😁 Enjoy the event! 🎉

      • Warren Neville says:

Maxwell, which matches starts first, Men’s Doubles Final and Women’s Doubles Final or Men’s Doubles Bronze Medal Match and the Women’s Doubles Bronze Medal Match?

        • Maxwell Hill says:

I have been told that we will be playing the Championship matches first since our coverage with the Tennis Channel is from 10:00am-1:00pm PT and the bronze medal matches will be played afterward. If you want to confirm before coming on Sunday, we typically release the Championship Sunday schedule on our Instagram account on Saturday nights after all of the bracket play has concluded. 😁

  • Isabelle says:

Is there ample parking for this event? If so is there an address for the lot?

  • Ronald says:

Do you have to pay for parking for the event? Is there parking at the NB Pickleball Club?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Ronald! You do not have to pay for parking for the event; parking is located at the Tennis and Pickleball Club at Newport Beach. 😁

  • TJ says:

Are taking photos of the players with a digital camera allowed from the stands?

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, TJ! I reached out to our Media Team and they said pictures are allowed if it’s from a phone, but professional photography equipment is not allowed without access to a Media Pass. 😁

  • Linda W says:

I am watching the Ogio Newport Beach Shootout live on the Tennus Channel. It started out with sound, but there is no longer any sound for the match. Same on 2 different TVs. All other channels on both TV sets work fine. What’s up?? Very frustrating.

    • Maxwell Hill says:

Hi, Linda! Thank you for the feedback. I’ve reached out to our broadcast team and let them know that you did not have sound so that they can work to resolve this for future tournaments. 😁
